Today I stumbled upon these photographs of a special moment in my life that I’ll never forget. They represent a few of the things I value most in this world; love, family and nature. It was a quiet evening at Silver Lake, just before dusk. Although the sun had been out of sight for awhile, it was yet to be done with the daylight. It welcomed the moonlight with the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. The warm pinks and oranges splashing the skyline led all of us back out to the lake where we had fished that day. Her little fingers grabbed his hand and lead the way to the rocks that were still warm from the sun–the same sun that painted a one-of-a-kind sky for us. Together we sat and stared with the fiery lake reflecting back at us. I like to think about what the colors in the sky saw on the lake-shore that twilight evening. The awe in our eyes. The subtleties of light in our faces. The bond between us in that moment in time. I like to imagine they saw the brightest, most beautiful colors they had ever seen in us. And our own bright hues were also reflected in the water, beaming back towards the glowing clouds and joining the color dance on the horizon. You see, I believe that you, me, the ones we love, nature, earth, sky and universe are all made of the same immortal substance–it’s called love.
